Happy Labour Day on Monday, September 5 th. We have a fully equipped kitchen, commercial dishwasher/sanitizer, tables/chairs, piano, organ and library. We are currently housed within the West Hillhurst Community Centre and our space can accommodate up to 230 people. We recognize their efforts once a year with a Volunteer Appreciation Social which is hosted by the paid staff. In the past year they contributed more than 5,000 hours – everything we do at the Go-Getters relies on the help and dedication of our volunteers to make it happen. Our volunteers are the backbone of our Association. and we are one of the few organizations who own and operate our own 28 passenger bus. We are fully staffed Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. The Coordinator coordinates the programs, activities, training of volunteers and assists in the day-to-day operation of the drop-in centre. The Administrator conducts the business of the Association under the direction of the Board of Directors. All other funds are raised through fundraising activities, donations and program or travel fees which cover the remainder of our annual budget. The Association receives funding from the City of Calgary – Family and Community Support Services (FCSS). The Board of Directors are elected from the membership at the Annual General Meeting which is held in of May each year. The Go-Getters Association has a volunteer Board that oversees the operation of the center and its programs. A monthly newsletter is available to make everyone aware of the activities and special events happening at the centre. The Go-Getters provides services that address social isolation and offers alternatives to promote healthful living through participation and exercise, as well as community based outreach services to senior residents providing the opportunity to age in place, if they so choose.Īt present, the Go-Getters membership is open to anyone 50+ for a nominal cost of $25 per year for the term of September 1 to August 31 of the following year.
